DJ McCain delivered an impressive performance behind the wheel of the nitrous-powered Corvette known as "Vecna," claiming victory in X275 at the 2025 Battle for the Thrones at Rockingham Dragway. McCain’s consistent and swift passes throughout the event earned him a hard-fought win against a competitive field.
Event Highlights
- Qualifying: McCain started strong, qualifying second with a stout 4.100 at 173.21 mph.
- Round 1: McCain advanced easily with a first-round bye run, conserving resources and preparing for later matchups.
- Round 2: Continued his momentum, defeating Sean Lyon by posting a 4.164 at 172 mph to Lyon’s 4.216 at 171 mph.
- Semifinals: Secured his place in the finals by outrunning Mark Meiering, clocking a 4.149 at 172 mph.
- Finals: McCain faced off against Stephen Barnett, taking a decisive win with a solid 4.166 at 171 mph, comfortably ahead of Barnett’s 4.989.
After clinching the win, McCain was thrilled to finally bring home the coveted Throne:
"The McCain Racing Vecna machine got it done at Battle for the Thrones in X275. My mom has been wanting one of these, and we were finally able to bring one home. The whole crew wasn’t there, but we came prepared as best we could. Ryan pulled double duty while in Texas with Michael Hawes Racing’s new car for any help I needed. Pops and Shawn maintained the car. Jalen stepped in to help make decisions on the racetrack as well as being lineup man for the weekend. Awesome show by the promoters, racers, and fans."
