Eddie Ramirez Claims First-Ever X255 Victory at Lights Out 17
Lights Out 17 marked a major milestone for the FuelTech Radial Outlaws Racing Series as X255 officially joined the RORS lineup for the first time. When eliminations wrapped up at South Georgia Motorsports Park, it was Eddie Ramirez who made history as the first X255 winner under RORS competition.
Ramirez came into race day qualified number five after running a 4.911 at 143.86 mph during qualifying. That put him solidly in the mix heading into eliminations in what was already shaping up to be a stacked debut for the class.
In Round One, Ramirez matched up with Chris Robinson and ran a 4.954 at 141.09 mph with a .060 reaction time to advance. Round Two paired him with Brad Schehr, where both racers had to peddle to get down the track, and Ramirez moved forward with a 5.595 at 140.23 mph.
The semifinal round proved to be one of his strongest performances of the day. Facing Bill Kubiak, Ramirez delivered a .028 reaction time and ran 4.849 at 141.25 mph to secure his spot in the final round.
In the final, Ramirez lined up against Charlie Barnes. Barnes ran slightly quicker with a 4.800 at 147.52 mph, but Ramirez left first with a .028 light and ran 4.808 at 146.34 mph. The starting line advantage was enough to seal the win in a tight heads-up battle.
With the victory, Eddie Ramirez becomes the first X255 winner in FuelTech Radial Outlaws Racing Series history. The debut of the class at Lights Out 17 delivered competitive racing from start to finish, and Ramirez’s performance set the standard for what fans and racers can expect moving forward.
