
Justin Johnson Charges from 14th to Ultra Street Victory at No Mercy 16
Starting deep in the field, Justin Johnson fought his way through one tough round after another to capture the Ultra Street win at No Mercy 16. With consistent laps and calm under pressure, Johnson climbed from the No. 14 qualifying spot to the top of the podium, proving once again that it's not where you start, it’s how you finish.
Event Highlights
Qualified #14:
Johnson entered eliminations as an underdog, qualified 14th in a stacked Ultra Street field. But he came ready to race and made every round count.
Round 1:
Johnson’s first matchup was against Haley James, and the race was tight. Johnson ran a 4.580 at 160 MPH to narrowly edge out James’ 4.557 at 158.91 MPH, sneaking by on the tree in a true first-round nail-biter.
Round 2:
Against Jackson Henderson, Johnson picked up the pace with a 4.521 at 159.64 MPH. Henderson had the quicker ET at 4.475, but Johnson took the win on a holeshot, continuing to make the most of every opportunity.
Round 3:
Facing Darren Breaud next, Johnson kept the momentum going with a 4.480 at 159.48 MPH. Breaud ran a 4.531 at 156.26 MPH, giving Johnson the round win and a ticket to the semis.
Semifinals:
Up against Terry Wilson, Johnson delivered one of his best passes of the day, a 4.444 at 160.16 MPH. Wilson was close behind with a 4.487 at 157.89 MPH, but Johnson held the lead from start to stripe.
Final Round:
In the finals, Johnson faced Jason Trevino, another heavy hitter in the class. Both drivers brought their best, but Johnson’s 4.448 at 160.73 MPH edged out Trevino’s 4.473 at 155.42 MPH to lock in the event win and complete a remarkable climb through the field.
