Barnett Delivers Record Run in Pro 275 Final at Lights Out 17

LAT Racing Oil Pro 275 at Lights Out 17 featured one of the most competitive fields of the event, with some of the quickest small tire cars in the world battling through eliminations at South Georgia Motorsports Park. When the final win light came on, it was Lyle Barnett behind the wheel of the Tommy Youmans Racing Ford Mustang who stood at the top of the field.

Barnett entered eliminations after qualifying fourth with a 3.713 at 204.42 mph, placing the Mustang in a strong position heading into race day. With several cars capable of running in the mid 3.60 range, every round would demand both precision on the starting line and a car capable of repeating strong performances.

Round one paired Barnett with Paul Major. Barnett cut a sharp .013 reaction time and drove to a 3.731 at 203.46 mph to move into round two.

In the second round Barnett faced Mo Hall. Both drivers are known for their consistency in heads up competition, but Barnett again delivered a clean pass, running 3.698 at 205.72 mph to move past Hall's 3.721 and continue advancing through the ladder.

The semifinal matchup brought a major challenge as Barnett lined up against 2025 RORS Pro 275 Champion Grantley Schloss. Schloss had been one of the quickest cars throughout the weekend, but Barnett left first with a .010 reaction time and ran 3.652 at 209.36 mph to earn a place in the final round.

Waiting in the other lane was Eddie Harrison, who had also battled his way through a tough ladder to reach the final round. When the tree dropped, Barnett was sharp on the starting line with a .040 reaction time and drove the Tommy Youmans Racing Mustang to a 3.600 at 209.88 mph, setting a new Pro 275 world record elapsed time in the process. Harrison made a strong pass of his own with a .054 light and a 3.648 at 207.08 mph, but Barnett’s quicker start and record setting performance secured the Lights Out 17 victory.

The win marked a standout performance for the Tommy Youmans Racing team and showed the strength of their program throughout the weekend and LAT Racing Oils Pro 275. With four clean rounds and a 3.60 pass in the final, Lyle Barnett left Lights Out 17 with one of the most impressive victories of the event.
